Composición taxonómica y de ácidos grasos del zooplancton superficial de la bahía Málaga (Pacífico colombiano)

Resumen
Se analizó la composición taxonómica y de ácidos grasos del zooplancton superficial colectado en cuatro estaciones en bahía Málaga (Pacífico colombiano) en mayo de 2009. Este estudio fue orientado a la ampliación del conocimiento de la bioquímica de productos naturales provenientes de organismos marinos en Colombia, y a la implementación de técnicas novedosas para la taxonomía del zooplancton. La comunidad zooplanctónica estuvo representada por cinco filos: Arthropoda (81.02 %), Chaetognatha (18.59 %), Cnidaria (0.15 %), Ctenophora (0.03 %) y Echinodermata (0.2 %). En estos filos se incluyeron 8 clases, 21 órdenes y 85 familias. Los ácidos grasos más abundantes fueron ácido palmítico (C16:0), ácido oléico (C18:1 (c9)-ω9) y CLA (ácido linoléico conjugado) (C18:2 (c9, t12)), de los cuales el ácido palmítico (C16:0) se presentó asociado con la presencia de organismos de la subclase Copepoda, la cual fue el taxón más abundante para este estudio. A nivel de clase, se presentó una asociación de Sagittoidea con los ácidos C20:2 (c11, 14)-(ω6) y C20:3(ω3)+C20:4(ω6), indicando una estrecha relación entre la presencia de los derivados del ácido araquídico y organismos de esta clase. Los ácidos grasos del zooplancton marino en Colombia son un área de estudio con vasto potencial en investigación de alto impacto, ya que son una herramienta útil para determinar grupos taxonómicos (quimiotaxonomía), y además permiten dilucidar relaciones tróficas en los ecosistemas acuáticos.
