Resumen

El canto es potencialmente útil como carácter taxonómico para distinguir entre especies congenéricas y entre grupos espacialmente distribuidos. Hylophilus flavipes es una especie oscina que se distribuye en el nuevo mundo, su canto es común y aún no existen estudios que lo describan geográficamente. Este estudio comparó las vocalizaciones de poblaciones de H. flavipes presentes en tres regiones del Valle del Magdalena en Colombia. Empleamos 22 registros bioacústicos divididos en tres poblaciones (Cundinamarca, Tolima y Santander). Evaluamos siete variables bioacústicas en cada registro auditivo. A través de un análisis discriminante que explicó el 100% de la variación entre los ejes 1 y 2, obtuvimos dos grupos bioacústicamente discretos Cundinamarca-Tolima y Santander. El análisis de componentes principales con el uso de los dos primeros ejes explicó el 100% de la variabilidad total en las observaciones y reveló que las poblaciones se relacionan con variables bioacústicas específicas. Este estudio permitió concluir que el grupo Cundinamarca-Tolima es diferente, en términos bioacústicos, al grupo de Santander y debería tratárseles como grupos discretos.
