Resumen

De acuerdo con la proyección de crecimiento poblacional de las Naciones Unidas, para 2030 la humanidad alcanzará un pico de 8200 millones de habitantes, de los cuales; contrario al fenómeno que se presentaba en la primera década del siglo XX, el 70% estaría concentrado en los centros urbanos (UNFPA, 2023). Esta realidad, notoria en varios países del mundo, antepone la premisa de que, las ciudades son el nuevo campo de desarrollo para la educación, la innovación y la economía global. Lo anterior, conecta con la discusión propuesta por los autores del libro ‘Ciudades y ciudadanos AMI: informados, comprometidos, empoderados por la alfabetización mediática e informacional’ editado por Grizzle, Jaakkola, y Durán-Becerra (2021), que expone reflexiones acerca de cómo mejorar la calidad de las personas, teniendo como punto de partida, la alfabetización mediática y, a la que los autores agregan, además, un componente determinante para esta discusión: la alfabetización informacional.
