Abstract

This article want to give some information about the implementation of the Department for Social Prosperity (DPS) Families in Action program, as a strategy of all social policy in the country to overcome extreme poverty.  This social policy has a meaning, we are talking about a monetary policies of conditional transfers (ECLAC, 2011) to overcome extreme poverty.  For this study, the experiences of a focus group made up of eight beneficiary families was compiled, using the concept of human development and some instrumental freedoms proposed by Armartya Sen (2000) as economic services and protective security.  Some findings conclude that the monetary contribution that the program makes helps to satisfy the basic needs that families suffer, and although these economic services don't put ending to proverty, they do influence their quality of life.  Finally, there are aspects identified that can be restructured from the role of the social manager, as an agent of change.
