Abstract
The objective of the study is to describe the effectiveness of a pedagogical strategy based on Cooperative Learning approach for the improvement of gross motor skills in the case of fourth grade children of the Guasimal Technical Educational Institution, La Clarita Headquarters, Espinal. The study approach is qualitative, with a case study type design. Among the research techniques the survey, interview, gross motor test and the projective technique are used. The sample is made up of 31 participants from the fourth grade of primary school, of which fifteen students participated; the ages range from 8 to 12 years. In relation to the student's assessment of cooperative learning within the class, it was exceeded from an initial 60% to a final 78%; Around the seven gross motor skills, the percentage went from a large percentage in the “good” grade to an increase in the “very good” grade; Regarding drawing, a different recognition of what it means to do physical education and put motor skills into practice was observed in the children. It is concluded that the pedagogical strategy was effective; the improvement of gross motor skills was seen from the sociability of the boys and girls. Likewise, children value physical education not only from an individual but a collective purpose, not only from the physical, but also social and emotional, which is very important for the rural reality.
