Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The maximum number of authors per article is three. More are accepted if a sound academic and ethical justification for adding additional authors is presented.

Each author must provide a brief professional profile of 50 words, email address, and institutional affiliation. Each author must include their Orcid identification code, obtained from the organization's official website www.orcid.org.

The article submits in Times New Roman font at 12 points, line spacing 1.5, in word format, and APA standards according to its most recent version (the 7th, at the moment).

Using bibliography management tools such as Mendeley, Zotero, among others, or the online version of Word is recommended.

The article's length must be between 5,500 and 8,000 words, including the bibliography.

The entire article must include a summary in Spanish and English of 250 words, with a maximum of 5 keywords separated by semicolons. For this, it recommends using the UNESCO thesaurus. If the article has images and graphics, these must have a size of 300 DPI and be in JPG format with the best possible resolution.

Reviews must be 1,500 words maximum.

All articles must be prepared strictly following the most recent American Psychological Association (APA) version. Include only the references cited, paraphrased, or mentioned in the text.

Calarma Journal has a template in Word file that can be downloaded here to facilitate the writing of the text under these rules.

The maximum response time to authors of the articles is three months. Authors may republish after two years from their previous publication in the Calarma Journal.

Evaluation process

Articles must be unpublished. Material previously published or that is simultaneously under evaluation in other publications is not accepted, even if it is in another language different than the one postulated in the Calarma Journal. The texts are subject to an anti-plagiarism review and a blind evaluation process.

The evaluation of the articles is carried out for three months from the closing of the call (this period may vary depending on the vacation period). At first, the review is carried out to verify that the articles submitted to comply with the established research and theme parameters proposed by the journal in each call (notice/call for papers; the second moment is given by the blind peer evaluation system, which guarantees that the name of the authors or the evaluators is not known.

If the articles are sent by people who belong to the University of Tolima, the reading by external evaluators to this higher education center is guaranteed.

The evaluators will review the manuscripts based on their theoretical relevance, methodological clarity, and significance of the reflections, results, conclusions, and bibliography. This process is carried out regardless of the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, nationality, political opinion, ethnic origin, and nationality.

The types of classification for the evaluation of articles are as follows:

Accept this submission.

Publishable with modifications.

Resend for review.

Recommend for another publication.

Not publishable.

Once the article has been evaluated, the journal will contact the author(s) to inform if it is accepted, requires modifications, or was rejected.
