Abstract

Self-evaluation in higher education programs yields results that raise new questions given the characteristics that are identified in each level. In Nursing programs, there are variables in the students that can affect learning such as age, employment relationship that motivate them to investigate the learning approaches that students adopt in the face of these variables. Objective: To identify the learning approaches and their relationship with the age, the academic average and the work situation of the students of the Nursing program. Methodology: Descriptive study, with a sample of 74 students from the III to VIII semesters of the nursing program, the information was collected with the RSPQ-2F instrument. Result: The deep focus predominated in 38% of the students, followed by 25% in superficial focus, 37% was located in a strategic / indeterminate focus, no significant statistical differences were found with age, academic average and their employment relationship today. Conclusions: The identification of the type of learning approach that each student adopts allows teachers to project strategies to strengthen quality learning. It is pertinent to investigate other variables that influence learning approaches, since the scientific literature on Nursing students is scarce.
