THE INCIDENCE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY ON SELF-ESTEEM, DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY ON HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS ATHLETES
Abstract
the study was to analyze the influence of sports practice, in psychological aspects such as self-esteem, depression and anxiety, in high-school students athletes. The research is non-experimental descriptive cross-cutting exploratory, in 50 athletes between 12 and 16 years of age of Liceo Nacional. of the Competitive Anxiety Inventory (CSAI-2), Depression Scale of Zung, the Rosemberg Self-Esteem, and the Inventory of Habitual Physical Activity for Adolescents (IAFHA). were administered. the levels of self-esteem of the athletes are low, they present episodes of depression with certain frequency, because although the students practice some type of sport, it does not seem to be enough to mitigate the episodes of sadness. It is possible to conclude that there is an evident relationship between anxiety, depression and, to a lesser extent, self-esteem with levels of physical activity-sports practice. It is necessary to implement psychological accompaniment strategies to mitigate this type of symptoms risk.
